For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Fantastic Restored Circa 1936 Sheaffer Oversize Balance Fountain Pen in the Golden Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and barrel. Replaced the old packing unit with new, added a new plunger gasket, and reused the original plunger rod with rubber sheathing as it is not cracked. Hand polished the Gold Filled Clip, Cap Banding and 14K Gold 2-Tone NIB. I also cleaned, buffed, polished, and waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the White Dot with gorgeous Gold Filled Clip and Cap Banding which, displays only very minor gold fill loss - the trim is in fabulous condition. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co Fort Madison, Iowa, U.S.A. Patented in the U.S.A.". Collector Alert: The transparency of the barrel is Water Clear. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Oversized Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen measures 5 9/16" in length capped and 6 3/8" posted.

I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Plunger Filling System works excellent and effortlessly.

This Sheaffer has the 2-Tone 14K NIB. The actual writing portion, the iridium, of the 14K Sheaffer NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .66mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a fine stroke/line measuring at .48mm when measured with digital calipers. Considering how fine the point is on this Sheaffer it writes very smoothly - not scratchy at all. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a fabulous Oversize Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen in the Golden Pearl Celluloid that would grade in Excellent to Near Mint Condition. The barrel transparency is in such immaculate condition and will be a prize for the new owner. Certainly, this fountain pen is collector grade and this fine writing instrument is ready to write with or just add to writing arsenal collection.
